OUR PHILOSOPHY
Over the years we have developed a philosophy of Web design that we never lose site of as we develop a site. Whether you choose Sullivan & Associates to develop your site or not, we believe our philosophy will help you create a successful Web site.

Clearly Define Your Target Audience
Defining your target audience should always be the first step. By doing so you can focus the content, layout and design of site to reach that audience.

Build a Web Site From the Visitor's Perspective
Like "The Golden Rule", if this philosophy is followed all others will be covered. Will the information you provide on the site be of use to your target audience? Is the site easy to navigate? Are the graphics aesthetically pleasing without adding unnecessary load-time? Is the site one you would find useful if you were to visit? You want people to come to your site, so be sure their visit is an enjoyable one.

Let Content Determine Design
You should never try to shoehorn content into a predetermined design. Design elements such as navigation menus, content display, and even the layout should all be driven by the content you want to provide. Work on the content and the layout will follow.

Focus On Content, Not Gimmicks
Successful sites are successful for one reason -- they provide their visitors with information they are looking for, not because they have flashing signs, race cars zipping around, or the latest rotating Flash banner. Well designed graphics are an important part of your visitor's experience, but in the end they are window-dressing for your content and should never draw the focus away from the information you are providing.

Update Content Often
Updating content takes a big commitment, but the rewards are also great. By providing timely, updated information you will insure repeat visits and a successful site. By keeping your content fresh you will give your visitors a reason to come back.
